WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement in recognition of International Women’s Day:
“During International Women’s Day, we reflect on the revolutionary impact of women around the world,” said Rep. Espaillat. “I am proud to honor the diverse and courageous women throughout New York’s 13th congressional district, in communities around the nation and around the globe. Today and every day, our quest for gender equality must continue until the reproductive rights of all women are protected, access to quality education is guaranteed, the freedom of speech is unrestricted, and women are paid and recognized equally for their work and contributions.
“It’s critical we continue to celebrate the countless social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world, and not falter in our collective efforts until we fully ensure gender equity, fairness and equality for all.”
First elected to Congress in 2016, Rep. Adriano Espaillat is serving his first term in Congress where he serves as a member of the influential U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and the House Select Committee on Small Business.
